About us

Welcome.

We're Anri and Pieter. We bought this house in 2019, after twenty years of holidays on this coast, and we still live in the cottage at the back of the garden.

Pieter was a baker in the city and still gets up at five to make the bread. Anri ran a small hotel for ten years, so she answers every email herself and remembers how you take your coffee.

Why we do it

We wanted the kind of place we looked for on holiday: small, quiet, and run by people who live there.

What we're proud of

Small things, done every day.

Running a small house well comes down to habits. These are the ones we keep, whoever is staying.

Bread every morning
Pieter bakes sourdough and rye before you wake, from flour milled an hour inland. What's left over goes into the picnic baskets.
Local first
Eggs, cheese, honey and wine come from farms and cellars within 30 kilometres. We know every supplier by name.
Our own power
Solar panels and batteries since 2022, so the lights, hot water and wifi stay on when the town's power goes off.
Every drop kept
Rain tanks water the garden and feed the outdoor showers. In dry summers we ask guests to go easy, and they do.
The milkwoods first
The seven old trees are protected. The deck was built around them, and we prune only what the forester tells us to.
Five rooms, never more
We could add rooms. We won't. Five means we remember your name, your favourite walk and how you take your coffee.

Come and say hello.
